Service Life Performance

Depending on the filling cycles and materials, our cylinders offer a design life of 20 years, 30 years, or non-limited life (NLL). Cylinders with a non-limited life can be used indefinitely, provided they undergo proper maintenance and periodic inspections. This investment not only ensures peace of mind during incidents but also reduces your long-term cost of ownership.

Always with your safety in mind

We offer an excess flow valve (EFV) designed to prevent the uncontrolled outflow of gas in case of unintentional opening or damage to the cylinder valve. This feature allows you to activate or deactivate the excess flow without compromising performance. Additionally, the valve is approved according to EN 144-2018, providing greater resistance to forceful impacts while maintaining full functionality. With Dräger’s Quick Connect technology, you can quickly change cylinders without the need to manually screw or unscrew the handwheel, saving time and ensuring a secure connection between the cylinder and breathing apparatus.

The carbon fiber SCBA bottle life could be extended by an additional 15 years with the use of MAE technology. The study showed that the current DOT-mandated 15-year service life does not align with the actual reliability of the cylinders, as there was no evidence of wear-out or increased probability of failure after 15 years. By using MAE testing, the Navy could safely extend the life of these cylinders, preventing unnecessary replacements and saving significant costs.
