Description
The Grounding Rod for Earthing – Stinger Operations is essential for fire safety during fuel tank transfer.
When a tanker truck needs towing or has an uncontrollable leak, the fuel it carries must transfer into a different container. The tanker truck grounding rods are necessary to prevent static discharge from igniting the fuel. The rods provide safe paths for electrons to dissipate into the ground.
Fuel Tank Grounding Requirements

- 4′ Threaded Copper Ground Rod
- 5/8″ Ground Rod Clamp
- UBolt & Saddle Clamp
- 6′ #6 AWG Bare Copper Wire
- End Caps

Cal OES MEL 3.2.9.2 GROUNDING, RODS: Three rods of approximate length 4 feet to 6 feet minimum and approximate diameter 3/8” to ½” copper.
Requires 3 fuel tank stinger grounding rods for each Type 1 and Type 2 teams. Optional for Type 3 teams.
These electrical grounding rods are compliant to:
- NEC Article 250
- NFPA 70
- NFPA 77
This is Truck Earthing System EZ G-6.
