Description

The M9 Chemical Detection Paper is a coated tape with a mylar-adhesive backing, allowing hazmat responders to affix it to objects. Luxfer Magtech packaged M9 chemical paper in a dispenser with a serrated edge to easily tear off sections for use.

M9 detector paper contains a suspension of an agent-sensitive red indicator dye on the paper. The M9 tape can detect agents, but not identify which agents are present. False positive readings may occur when used on hot, dirty, oily, greasy surfaces, petroleum products or DS2.

The tape that makes up M9 is 30 ft. (9.1 meters) long and 2 in. (5.1 centimeters) wide. The self-adhesive paper attaches to most surfaces. Additionally, Luxfer Magtech provides a moisture proof resealable bag to store the dispenser after removal from its original packaging. Protective gloves must be worn when handling chemical paper detector for nerve agents.

This hazardous gas detector paper indicates the presence of the following agents:

  • Nerve gas (V- and G- types) – Nerve gasses are a class of organic chemicals that disrupt the mechanisms by which nerves transfer messages to organs.
  • Mustard (H, HD, HN, and HT) – Mustard is a chemical warfare agent. It causes blistering in the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract. It also damages DNA of the bone marrow, which results in decreased red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. The M9 Chemical Agent Paper is an excellent mustard gas detector.

M9 Chemical Detection Tape

M9 chemical detector paper turns to what color? M9 paper contains a suspension of an agent-sensitive indicator dye on the paper. The dye will turn pink, red, reddish-brown or red-purple when exposed to liquid nerve or blister agent.

What is the difference between m8 and m9 paper? The ‘3 Way’ M8 product variation has adhesive backing and can be placed on clothing etc. The chemical identifier m9 paper comes in the form of a useful adhesive-backed tape as it is most often used for protective clothing and detects liquid and aerosol chemical agents.
