2024 Cal OES WMD Summit – Multiagency CBRNE Training Event
The 2024 Cal OES WMD Summit – Multiagency CBRNE Training Event took place in Sacramento California this year with a Day-1 Table Top Exercise (TTX) at the California State Railroad Museum and the Day-2 Field Training Exercise (FTX) at the new El Dorado Hills Fire Department Training Center.
A key objective for this ongoing event is to better prepare local, state and federal agencies for CBRNE & WMD emergencies including building relationships between representatives of agencies involved.
With about 280 attendees and 30 support personnel, this training exercise involved Cal OES, FBI leads & field technicians, hazmat responds teams, National Guard CST units, SWAT, EOD “Bomb Squads”, additional local law enforcement and a variety of response specialists and support agencies.

On Day-2 the planning was put into action with this years focused FTX that included operations making entry into a clandestine laboratory with render stable operations and evidence recovery in full response gear. This allowed for hands-on training with equipment, gear and technologies offered by the event sponsors.
For Public Information Officers, Public Affairs Officers, and Media Representatives during the FTX search warrant planning phase there was a break-out session to discuss JIC set-up and briefing(s).

The Hazardous Materials Division, under the Cal OES Fire and Rescue Branch, coordinates the statewide implementation of hazardous materials accident prevention and emergency response programs for all types of hazardous materials incidents and threats. In response to any hazardous material emergency, the Division staff is called upon to provide state and local emergency managers with emergency coordination and technical assistance.
